AFRICA/GUINEA - Appointment of the Rector of the interdiocesan theological seminary of Conakry

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 25 March 2020 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Francois Sylla, of the Archdiocesan clergy of Conakry as Rector of the interdiocesan theological seminary located in the archdiocese of Conakry (Guinea).
The new Rector was born on April 9, 1972 in Siboty. He entered the St. John XXIII Seminary in Kindia in 1972, then he studied philosophy and theology at the St. Augustine Major Seminary in Bamako, Mali. He was ordained a priest on November 21, 2004 in Conakry. After three years of pastoral service, he continued his studies in Lugano, Switzerland, and then at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, where he obtained his doctorate in canon law. Returning to Guinea in 2013, he held the position of Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Professor and Prefect of studies at the interdiocesan theological seminary. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 23/6/2020)
