Vehicle strikes building in southwest Jamestown

A Jamestown man is in custody after the car he was driving left the roadway and crashed into a business in southwest Jamestown, according to Lt. Sidney Mann of the Jamestown Police Department.

Employees of the NAPA Auto Parts store in Jamestown had closed off the hole made when a vehicle struck the building just after midnight. The store was open for business Thursday morning.

A Jamestown man is in custody after the car he was driving left the roadway and crashed into a business in southwest Jamestown, according to Lt. Sidney Mann of the Jamestown Police Department.

The incident occurred at 12:24 a.m. Thursday at 1005 17th St. SW in Jamestown.

David McManus, 23, Jamestown, was charged with driving under suspension, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center pending formal charges, Mann said.

Mann said McManus was traveling west on 17th Avenue Southwest when he left the roadway, crossed through a ditch and struck the NAPA building. He was not injured.

Damage to the structure and vehicle is estimated at $10,000.

The incident remains under investigation by the Jamestown Police Department.
