LAHORE: A Civil Court on Friday extended stay order till September 7 on 127 Kanals of land belonging to the Raiwind residence of the Sharif family while the government claims that it belongs to the Auqaf Department.
As the court had already stopped the Punjab government from cancelling the transfer of said land, it has directed Board of Revenue and other departments concerned to submit their reply in this regard on next hearing. The court had granted stay order on the application of Nawaz Sharif's nephew Yousuf Abbas Sharif and other members of the family. The application stated that Sharif family are joint owners of 1,580 Kanals of land in Jati Umrah out of this, land spread over 400 Kanals was used for residential purposes while the remaining 1,180 Kanals were used by the Sharif family for agricultural purposes. Sharifs said that all construction was undertaken on the lands after approval from the relevant departments. However, the Punjab government has accused the Sharif family of illegally occupying the land.
