EU Foreign Ministers express concern regarding law "On transparency of foreign influence"

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union expressed concern regarding the law "On transparency of foreign influence" in Georgia. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced at the press conference held after the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union.

Josep Borrell reiterated that the law is incompatible with the values of the European Union.

In addition, according to him, the European Commission should submit a report regarding the development of the mentioned events.

"The aforementioned law was introduced in the Parliament and the Georgian Government undertook to withdraw this draft law and not to reintroduce it. This has not been done. Commissioner Várhelyi and I issued a statement last week emphasizing that this law is incompatible with EU values. I repeat, this law is incompatible with the values of the European Union. The European Commission should submit a report regarding the development of the mentioned events. We are concerned about the fact that this law has been reintroduced in the Parliament ", said Josep Borrell.
