Seven more arrested for arson and vandalism in royalist protest at Tinkune

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested seven more individuals involved in vandalism and arson during last Friday’s royalist protest at Tinkune, led by Nabaraj Subedi and Durga Prasai.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, the suspects were caught attacking security personnel with stones, sticks, iron rods, and improvised weapons, as well as attempting to snatch police weapons.

The group was allegedly involved in vandalizing political party offices, leaders’ residences, hospitals, police stations, commercial centers, Nepal Oil Corporation’s fuel storage, the Civil Aviation Authority office, and the outer compound of Tribhuvan International Airport.

They also reportedly looted cash and goods from private homes, set fire to public and private vehicles, and engaged in other criminal activities.

Kathmandu Police spokesperson SP Apil Raj Bohara stated that the seven suspects were detained from various locations in the capital. The Kathmandu District Court has extended their custody for seven days for further investigation.

One of the suspects will face charges of crimes against the state, while the remaining six will be prosecuted for criminal offenses.

Arrested Individuals include Prem Thapa Magar (47), Devdaha-9, Rupandehi, Samir Magar (21), Gauradah-1, Jhapa, Suresh Gautam (22), Sunapati-1, Ramechhap, Sushil Baral (23), Phungling-3, Taplejung, Ramesh Rai (27), Belkotgadhi-7, Nuwakot,Gokarna Shahi (20), Panchadeval, Achham and Mukunda Dahal (39), originally from Panchkhapan-2, Sankhuwasabha, currently residing in Kageshwari Manohara-9, Kathmandu.
