MANILA, Philippines– Amid online remarks questioning their heritage, Petro Gazz stars Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips are standing firm: they are proud to be Filipinos.

There have been snide remarks circulating online throwing shade at the Angels’ latest championship and implying that the two Angels stars, both of Filipino-American descent, are essentially “imports” in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Phillips, who traces her Filipino roots to Iba, Zambales on her mother’s side, is tuning out the noise keep only her family in mind.

MANILA, Philippines — Not wanting to experience the same pain that Petro Gazz felt two years ago, MJ Phillips did everything to make sure the Angels ended up with a different ending this time.

In the 2025 PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals, Phillips and Angels were reminded of their previous Finals showdown in the same conference 2023, where they won Game 1 but failed to close out the best-of-three series.

MANILA, Philippines — It was quite a historic night for Brooke Van Sickle as she captured her second PVL Most Valuable Player award after leading Petro Gazz to its first-ever All-Filipino Conference title.

Van Sickle hoisted her second straight All-Filipino MVP trophy just moments after Petro Gazz ended Creamline’s bid for a five-peat with a 25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19 victory in Game 3 on Saturday at Philsports Arena.

The Filipino-American standout, who delivered 18 points, 14 excellent receptions, and 10 digs in the title-clinching win, joined teammate Myla Pablo as a two-time MVPs.

The Petro Gazz Angels are finally taking home the coveted PVL All-Filipino championship.

MANILA, Philippines–Ivy Lacsina soared for an emphatic spike at match point and the Akari Chargers swept the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-15, 26-24, 26-24, to reach the podium of the PVL All Filipino Conference on Saturday.

Gathering enough strength, Lacsina’s power strike found the back row off the arms of Choco Mucho libero Tonnie Rose Ponce as the Chargers emerged triumphant in the finale of their race-to-two series for the bronze medal.

“With that last point, I was able to recall all that happened to our team this conference. I poured everything on that last spike,” said the teary-eyed Lacsina after Akari nailed another podium finish for the second consecutive conference.

Creamline has built a long-running empire it swears to protect. Petro Gazz craves nothing less than to satisfy an urge.

One team will walk away with the PVL All-Filipino Conference title on Saturday, as the Cool Smashers and the Angels battle one final time in the high-stakes finale of their championship showdown.

Craving for this lone diadem that eluded them in the past, the Angels seemed ready to finally seize it by taking the series opener, only to squander the entire plan in a Game 2 five-setter that didn’t go their way.

MANILA, Philippines — For the fifth time in PVL history, Creamline and Petro Gazz collide in what is expected to be another classic best-of-three finals series for the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference supremacy.

The two teams have forged most finals duels between two volleyball clubs with Creamline moving a series closer to its ‘drive for five’ with its seventh consecutive finals appearance and Petro Gazz looking at another shot at what has been an elusive All-Filipino title.

The Cool Smashers are gunning for their 11th title and fifth consecutive All-Filipino — probably the sweetest and most challenging one after a six-month tournament. But standing in their way are the Angels, who are playing their best season together yet and have the strongest lineup to challenge the reigning dynasty.
